Brothers

Two brothers
One rivalry
One love

Only a brother could understand
the playful fight.
What one may see as torture,
is actually a symbol of protection.
Though the two look the same
the four years difference appears;
the older embraces the younger in a headlock.

Two brothers
One rivalry
One love

The younger, stuck under the wing
of the older, looks almost submissive
There is no malice on the face of either.
Joy seems to be found in the tussle,
joy that can only be found in brotherhood.
Natural order takes its place
as the older teaches the younger.

Two brothers
One rivalry
One love

Beneath the surface there is protection.
No one could ever touch the younger.
If they did, the wrath of the older
would be brought to life – he is the protector.
The older knows his place in the younger’s life,
though the younger may never
admit he looks up to his brother.

Two brothers
One rivalry
One love

The bond between the two is scarcely
captured at first glance.
The protectiveness will last forever,
the teaching will go on,
but the headlock will soon break.
No matter how far the separation grows
he will always be my younger brother.

Two brothers
One rivalry
One love
